USER GUIDE TURNING INSERTS Turning Materials Grades Chart Grade ISO Grade Description Coating Layers Coating Color* Uncoated P2O-P45 A very tough substrate with cobalt enriched layer and M20-M30 MTCVD coating and a special SUMOTEC surface CVD COATED treatment. Suitable for machining steels and alloy steels TiN IC8350 at low to medium cutting speeds and medium to high feeds. Features very high toughness with excellent Al2O3 results in heavy machining, unstable conditions, and TiCN interrupted cuts. Base A very hard-uncoated carbide grade, suitable for machining aluminum alloys, aluminum alloys with high IC4 N01-N15 silicon content and other non-ferrous materials at high S05-S15 cutting speeds. Base M15-M30 UNCOATED A tough uncoated submicron carbide grade, suitable for IC08 steels, stainless steel and high temperature alloys at low N10-N25 cutting speeds. Good choice for non-ferrous materials. S20-S30 Base A hard-uncoated carbide grade for machining aluminum K10-K20 and other non-ferrous materials at medium to high IC20 cutting speeds. Can be used for cast iron at low cutting N05-N25 speeds. Suitable also for machining high temperature S10-S20 and Titanium alloys, at low cutting speeds. H10-H20 Base P05-P25 A very hard cermet grade for turning and grooving. M05-M15 Recommended for finishing operations on steels and alloy steels at high cutting speeds and low feeds. IC20N Features excellent surface finish, high wear resistance, plastic deformation durability and prevents built-up edge. CERMET Base P10-P30 M10-M20 A hard cermet grade, suitable for machining, steels and stainless steel at medium to high cutting speeds and IC30N low feeds. Features excellent surface finish, very good wear resistance and prevents built-up edge. Base * For coated grades 278 ISCAR
