The roughness peaks are levelled and the roughness reduced. This creates a smooth and resistant surface. Impressive advantages ■ Complete machining in a single clamping set-up. ■ Cost-effective (compared to diamond burnishing). ■ Surface quality up to Rz 2 μm possible. ■ Adjustable (head or clearance angle), which enables different contact points between burnishing roller and workpiece. Operating conditions 29 ■ Suitable for materials up to a tensile strength of 1500 N/mm2 (approx. 45 HRC). ■ Suitable only under restricted conditions (not recommended) for hardened and high-strength materials. ■ The recommended maximum workpiece diameter is approx. 4 × ⌀ of roller = 60 mm. ■ Pre-turning surface of at least Rz = 10 µm (Ra = 1). ■ Workpiece radial run-out < 0.03 mm. ■ Infeed always in the workpiece. ■ The selected curvature of the roller should be greater than the radius of the pre-turning plate. ○ ISO code N N N P P P P P H H H M M S K ap mm 0.005 – 0.02 0.006 – 0.04 0.01 – 0.08 0.01 – 0.1 0.01 – 0.1 0.05 – 0.2 0.005 – 0.02 ● ● f mm/rev 0.03 – 0.1 0.02 – 0.06 0.02 – 0.1 0.02 – 0.06 0.02 – 0.06 0.05 – 0.1 0.02 – 0.06 ● ● VC m/min 120 – 140 110 – 140 100 – 130 100 – 130 100 – 130 80 – 120 100 – 130 ● ● 909
