A prominent advantage of a Barrel endmill over a Ball-Nose is the number of stepovers and, subsequent, machining time can be significantly reduced without degradation of the surface finish parameters. The large-diameter arc of the endmill cutting edge results in a substantial reduction of the cusp height.
