Milling and Plunging, Stroke Pattern Note 1 The drilling and plunging strokes have to be at the same depth as the slotting stroke, otherwise the hole fills with chips that impair the next stroke. A Note 2 B In order to shorten swarf during plunging and drilling, it is recommended to use peck feeding. APMX Note 3 Maximum Plunging Capability The maximum recommended speed is 7,000 rpm. Higher speeds are possible after dynamic balancing to G2.5.

This tight tolerance ensures maintenance of the dynamic balance of the tool after insert indexing.
